What is a chiropractor?

January 7, 2019

You have probably heard the term, and maybe even told to go see one. Maybe that is what has brought you here. However you still don’t know what a chiropractor is. I am going to try and help you understand. A chiropractor is a musculoskeletal expert who primarily focuses on conditions relating to the spine. This means they most commonly treat neck and back pain.

What makes them musculoskeletal experts?

Modern day evidence based chiropractors undergo a very thorough graduate level education that focuses on the musculoskeletal systems. Chiropractors go to around 4 years of graduate school where they learn about the body. They develop an understanding of how the musculoskeletal systems functions and common ways in which the systems become injured. They then learn how to treat and care for the systems once they become injured.

When should you see a chiropractor?

If you aren’t able to do the things that you love to do because of how much pain you are in, then it’s time to come see a chiropractor. A chiropractor can help you determine the cause of your pain, especially if its back or neck pain, and help you take the appropriate steps to get rid of that pain.
